Grapes
The Western Georgian grape variety Krakhuna is easily recognizable by its intense aromatic flavor and its thin, crisp skin. Cultivating Krakhuna requires special care, as its delicate skin can easily split during heavy rainfall, leading to significant harvest losses. Our winegrower in Terjola is one of the few experts in cultivating this rare variety. In Terjola, Krakhuna finds ideal soil conditions, while the vineyard’s sun-drenched slopes provide optimal conditions for grape ripening.
Process
Krakhuna N°1 2022 is a blend of 80% Krakhuna and 20% Tsitska, another Western Georgian grape variety from the same vineyard. The bold, aromatic character of Krakhuna harmonizes beautifully with the freshness and vibrant acidity of Tsitska. Fermentation took place without skin contact in both qvevri and stainless steel tanks. The result is a highly aromatic, brilliantly fresh white wine with notes of apricots, tropical fruits, honey, and herbs.
Character
Krakhuna N°1 2022 is an excellent companion to seafood, light fish dishes, poultry, Mediterranean vegetables, or mild cheeses. However, its lively acidity and distinctive fruit aromas also make it a delightful experience on its own.
