The rediscovered Khikhvi grape variety is one of the rarer white grapes of Kakheti and is cultivated only in small quantities. It is known for producing distinctive wines with strong character. To create this amber wine, the hand-harvested grapes were fermented on their skins in traditional clay qvevris. After four weeks of skin contact, the wine was transferred to a second qvevri, where it matured for a further four months.
VAZIS XIDI Khikhvi N°1 2023 is a complex wine with remarkable depth, richness, and elegance. It is distinguished by its beautiful amber colour and layered aromatic profile, offering notes of ripe and dried yellow and tropical fruits, spices, walnuts, almonds, and honey. Its pronounced tannins become rounder and more refined with each passing year.
An excellent food companion, it pairs particularly well with grilled meat and vegetables, Mediterranean dishes such as ratatouille or couscous, aged goat’s cheese, and Georgian specialties such as Mtsvadi (traditional grilled meat skewers).
